Starscream

Character Name: Starscream
Transformers Series: Generation One
Faction: Decepticons
Rank: 4th In Command (Will Do Anything To Lead)
Released By: Takara/Hasbro
Brief Character History:

Starscream is perhaps the most entrust-worthy of all Decepticons mainly because of the fact he will do almost anything to become the leader of the Decepticons. Originally before the Great Wars of Cybertron millions of years before hand Starscream used to be a scientist along with his old friend Skyfire. However that changed the day he met Megatron.

Megatron convinced Starscream to join him and Soundwave and many more Decepticons planning the War on Cybertron. Starscream joined the Decepticons and was a great ally to there cause as Starscream showed no respect or feelings towards the Autobots or anyone else for that matter.

The self pro-claimed 'Air Commander Starscream' also works together with fellow seeker jets Thundercracker and Skywarp and together these three can rule the air and are unmatched. None of the trio get along very well but that's mainly due to the fact Starscream cares nothing for either Skywarp or Thundercracker and vise versa.

Many times during the Wars Starscream tried to take Megatrons place as leader of the Decepticons but every time he was out done by Megatron. However Megatron never destroyed Starscream for his betrayal or plotting against him, instead he knew that even though Starscream could never be trusted that he did actually need him because he was a brilliant scientist and an impressive Warrior.

Starscream is also the creator of the Decepticons known as the Combaticons who can merge to become the mighty Bruticus. Starscream tried to use the Combaticons to take over Cybertron and over-throw Shockwave and claim himself as ruler of Cybertron. However things didn't go to plan and Megatron ended up in control of the Combaticons and added them to his army of Decepticons.

In the end Starscream got what he wanted in the end, he was leader of the Decepticons.....for about 3 minutes and then Galvatron (the resurrected Megatron) blew him to dust for his betrayal. Starscream pissed off Megatron big time! after the battle on Earth against the Autobots at Autobot City there was a battle against Optimus and Megatron. The two leaders beat each other senseless until it looked as though Megatron had won, however Prime surprised Megatron unexpectedly and sent his battered body falling to the ground from several floor levels. Starscream saw this as his chance to become leader and upon the retreat Starscream turned on Megatron! he threw Megatron out into the cold void of Space.

Megatron was resurrected by The Chaos Bringer Unicron and was reformatted as the mighty Galvatron. Now with a more powerful body he headed for Cybertron were he blew Starscream to pieces for his betrayal. However even though Starscream was dead his Spark was not destroyed and he became a Ghost. Now a Ghost he possessed the body of Scourge and caused chaos among the ranks of the Decepticons. He stole Trypticon and tried to resurrect Unicron, however he was only using Unicron to give him a new body and he got his wish. Once Starscream was given a new body he was blown into space by an explosion near the connection of Unicron and once he was thrown into space he was seen by Galvatron who opened fire on him.

Starscream's body eventually broke down in space as all he could do was drift because his body was to badly damaged for him to move and his Spark traveled threw space and threw time. Eventually in the future his Spark was drawn into the Trans-warp vortex left by the future Decepticons known as Predacons who had used time-travel to go back to Pre-Earth. Once there Starscream took control of Predacon member Waspinator and tried to take control of the Predacons there. However Waspinator was attacked by Optimus Primal and his body badly damaged which sent Starscream's Spark flying back into Space were his Spark drifts threw the cold void of deep space.

Extra Details:

Originally Starscream was also in the Diaclone Toy line that was produced by Takara and eventually once the Transformers happened he was brought into that. The main figure remained the same and the only real difference was the stickers on the figure and the tips of the missiles for the launchers.

Starscream has been re-released a few times by Takara over the years. He was also released in the rare 'Good-Bye Megatron' gift set that consisted of Starscream and Megatron in a twin pack as a final fair-well to the G1 leader Megatron and Starscream. Later on Starscream was re-released as an Exclusive for the 3rd series of the Transformers. This release was very rare and cost a lot of money since it was only released in small numbers, this was 'The Ghost Of Starscream' that appeared in two episodes of series 3 of the cartoon. The figure was completely transparent and a Takara release only. There was also a black transparent release of the 'Ghost' version of Starscream as well which is also just as rare.

Recently Starscream has also been re-released in the 'Reissue' line done by both Takara and Hasbro however only the Takara version comes with a mini-Megatron gun that Starscream can hold. There has also been a 'Robot Masters' release of Starscream and a new Classics version of Starscream which is based on the G1 mould but with loads more flexibility and he also looks much much more show accurate and more fantastic than ever before.

Universe History:

The history of Starscream pretty much follows the Cartoon version but with a few exceptions. In the comic Universe Starscream is much more deadly than shown in the Cartoons. Perhaps his most famous raise to fame is the fact he kills several Autobots during the comics and single handedly kills a few Autobot combiners such as Defensor and a few others.

There are also a few more issues that deal with the issue of Starscream after/during the events of the Movie but nothing really goes into great detail.

The 'Robot Masters' Universe has Starscream ripped from time and dragged into another time-line with other Transformers also dragged from other time lines to do battle with each other but its never really explained as to why exactly that there all thrown together or why there fighting aside from the fact Decepticons and Autobots don't get on.
