Chances are if you wanted to own Kiss Players Melissa then obviously you paid the load and paid out for Kiss Convoy….which is basically a higher priced version of Alternators Optimus Prime but with a new box, a few new accessories and an ever so slightly different paint application in smaller areas.
First thing to note is that obviously Melissa has no alt mode because she’s a human passenger that travels along with Convoy/Optimus Prime. In case your not to sure on how the ‘Kiss Players’ line works it basically goes something like this – Female characters ‘kiss’ the Transformers and enhance there powers and give them strength. It’s an odd line that Takara/Tomy has chosen to go down instead of just continuing the BTA line or Binaltech.
Melissa fits inside of Convoy/Optimus Prime and can sit in the steering wheel section or the passenger seat is she so chooses. She also comes with different sections that attach to the body. Basically Melissa is like most ‘Trading figures’ you can get a hold of from most Japanese stores. She’s very small and is made from bendy plastic. She also is held together by several small pegs in places such as the arms and the waist area. To change her pose or position you’re given different sections of the body. Melissa comes with two other arms and a different pair of legs. Your attach these by removing the previous parts and then you have a new and different pose.
Melissa has had a lot of detail put into her and you can tell when you compare her to other BTA/Kiss girls such as Junko or Tai. Melissa seems slightly bigger than the other girls height wise yet somehow manages to still seem the same size…. Maybe it’s just my eyes but personally she seems bigger than the other girls to me at least.
The figure doesn’t really have many poses available to her but its amazing just how many places and area’s that she can actually go to and work well with. She can fit inside the car in vehicle mode and also can sit in either seat. She can sit in the back of the truck or just sit hanging out of the car window. Attach her other pieces and she can stand outside of the car or have her hands pressed against something or have her hands leaning against something. It’s rather odd how you can actually get so much interaction from the figure when at first glance she doesn’t really look that special.
Melissa comes boxed with Kiss Convoy and can only be purchased this way unless you see a very rare Ebay auction for JUST her which is very unlikely. Another way you might be able to get a hold of her is by asking on various Transformer Forums and seeing if anyone has one for sale. No luck on either of those fronts basically means your going to be paying for a complete Kiss Convoy with all his accessories which seems to be selling for a lot these days.
Not exactly a Transformers figure but if you collect other Japanese Girl models such as figures from Xenosaga, Dead or Alive or Final Fantasy then you will understand basically what Melissa is all about. She isn’t the main selling point of the figure as that’s obviously supposed to be Convoy, however what she does is add as a very different and new accessory that most people will find strange at first but will grow to eventually like. She may appear to be very different from your usual Transformers characters but she is certainly a welcome addition.
