The Beast Machines
TV series gave us 4
main
Predacon/Vehicon
characters and the
rest of the time we
were just given
standard drones
which were basically
the same figure. The
toys were pretty
much the same in
that respect and we
got figures like
what appeared in the
TV show but the main
generals Tankor,
Thrust and Jetstorm
all got toy upgrades
and became newer
looking characters.
Tankor now looks
nothing like his
show counter-part
and instead he now
looks more menacing
and has legs and
feet and a different
face than compared
to the Tank Drone
version which looks
exactly like how
Tankor does on the
show. It’s rather
strange as Jetstorm
was sold as an Ultra
and also as a Basic
with his Drones
being slightly
repainted a lighter
blue color and being
renamed as
Sonic-Attack-Jets.
Thrust was pretty
much show accurate
but had to be
modified slightly
because he couldn’t
balance on one wheel
and had to be forced
to look like he was
some sort of wheel
chair accident
victim.
Tankor's vehicle
mode looks almost
like how his show
representation looks
but with a more
upgraded
stylization. Tankor
still has the robot
type face in vehicle
mode and his huge
mounted cannon as
well. The front of
the vehicle now has
claws (Tankor's
fists) which act as
claws for the
vehicle mode and
also the top section
of the vehicle mode
has transparent
plastic on the base
which can be flipped
upwards revealing
that as well as the
grabbing claws there
are also two deadly
spiked razor blades
which will crush
anything unfortunate
enough to get caught
in Tankor's way.
The back section of
the vehicle mode has
a small red holster
which is basically
used for rotating
the eye section in
the head piece of
Tankor's vehicle
mode. In the cartoon
show we saw that
Tankor's eye would
move from side to
side and it appears
that this feature
has also been added
to the upgraded toy
design.
Robot mode looks
very different from
the look of the
cartoon show as now
instead of tank
tracks it seems that
Tankor has legs and
feet now. The arms
are also very
different from the
cartoon show
versions as while
Tankor has kept the
claws for fists it
seems that these new
claws look very
different from the
cartoon shows and
another extra added
feature is that
these arms have
spiked razor blade
saws attached to the
arms sections
themselves.
Elbow and knee
sections bend and
Tankor is able to
rotate his head a
complete 360 and the
waist section is
also able to rotate
as well which makes
this figure
fantastic for pose
purposes. The figure
feels just right
weight size and
doesn’t feel to
heavy in places and
to light in others.
Tankor came boxed as
a ‘Mega’ and was
packaged in the
standard Beast
Machines packaging
which consisted of
the toy being
displayed in vehicle
mode with a clear
plastic front
bubble. The back of
the Packaging had
some detail on the
figures Bio and also
a picture of robot
and vehicle mode.
Side of the
packaging had images
of other Beast
Machines Maximals
and Vehicons
available in the
line. The figure
came with his
instructions but
sadly nothing else.
If you want a show
accurate version of
Beast Machines
Tankor then your
going to have to
purchase the smaller
Tank-Drone version
of this figure.
While the new
upgraded look and
design of this
‘Mega’ Tankor may
not be show accurate
there’s no denying
that this toy is a
fantastic figure to
any collection and
considering how poor
a lot of the figures
in Beast Machines
were then is figure
stands out from the
crowd. |
