After the battle on Autobot city the Decepticon known as Thundercracker was damaged to the point of near shutdown. Starscream and the others threw Thundercracker and several other damaged Decepticons out into space. Along with the body of Megatron they drifted towards Unicron who reformatted them with new bodies. Thundercracker was reformatted into Cyclonus the Warrior while Megatron became Galvatron.
The body of Henkei Cyclonus is almost show accurate and a real tribute to the original G1 toy that was released all those years ago. The figure looks exactly like his G1 self only more updated with more articulation and more freedom of movement. The arms rotate the legs rotate and the face all rotate in the right areas making Cyclonus only that more impressive to see in the flesh.
When put next to Henkei Galvatron then it looks just right with Cyclonus on Galvatron's right hand side, the only downfall of this is that you wonder how on earth they get Cyclonus SO right and perfect but they failed so much on creating Galvatron.
Takara always do the better version of these classic/Henkei release figures and Cyclonus is no exception, when you compare this to the Hasbro version then the Henkei one really does outshine the Hasbro version by miles. Takara tried to get Cyclonus to look as show accurate as possible and they have done this almost perfectly. The purple color seems ok but could have been slightly darker shade. The
grey coloring is perfect and the chrome on the figure just adds all the more beautiful looks to the figure in both robot and vehicle mode.
The vehicle mode just looks completely beautiful and is spot-on for looking like the movie original and also the original look of the toy. The transformation is fairly easy
and Cyclonus also has his target-master partner NightStick to help him in his battle against the Autobots. Thankfully the Takara/Henkei side of things keeps to the original story and NightStick is actually a smaller robot and NOT a human in a weird ass suit that makes a robot like what the retarded Rebirth/Hasbro version side of things made the Headmasters/TargetMasters out to be.
Once in vehicle mode then the Target-Master can attach on top of the roof area of Cyclonus and become a type of large gun that can be used along side Cyclonus’s current weaponry. The roof of Cyclonus has clear transparent red windows which is a real beautiful touch because most companies would have just painted on the windows while instead were treated to clear transparent red which is what the color of the windows were in the original movie when Galvatron flew inside of Cyclonus on the 2nd attack of Autobot City.
The wings are Chrome purple and match the rest of the purple coloring just right but because the wings are made of chrome then they will need constant care and looking
after, all the Beast Wars fans out there will obviously understand the difficulties that come with a figure which has chromed parts. The front area also slides outwards and
reveals a pointed tip front, some fans assume this is a type of gun perhaps while others agree it is just ment for stream-lining and making Cyclonus go faster when in vehicle mode.
Nightstick in gun mode looks good and works perfectly well as his original G1 counter part did and since Nightstick is a Target-Master he has the added bonus of attaching to Cyclonus in robot mode in more ways than one. The special feature of Nightstick is that he can be held by Cyclonus normally but also his fist can rotate inwards (as if he was when transformed) and Nightstick can then be attached to the connector point of the fist area as shown in the images above. The only real downside to Nightstick is that he is limited to movement, the arms can move and are flexible but the leg area is just solid and straight and cannot bend but that is mainly down to the fact the legs are also the characters gun barrel in gun mode. The Henkei version is far superior to the Hasbro Classic version as the legs are chrome on the Henkei version while on the Hasbro version it is just plain coloring plastic.
The packaging for Henkei Cyclonus is fantastic and maintains all the looks and design of the current Henkei released figures. The figure is MOSC with a square bubble window and inside the packaging is a mini comic which shows Cyclonus and Nightstick along side Starscream with Galvatron. The figure comes in displayed in Vehicle mode with Nightstick placed on the side. The back of the card has images of Cyclonus transforming into both modes and also images of other figures available in the line.
An amazing figure to own with only a small amount of flaws which can’t impact how brilliant this homage to G1 Cyclonus is. This figure is by far one of the best updated
characters in the classics/Henkei toy line which can only show when a figure is done with heart and passion what the end results can be, it’s only a shame that not this much amount of love and detail went into creating Galvatron. A great figure with a great homage to a G1 toy and also an added bonus of a Target-Master to boot only makes this figure that more impressive. Costs a fair bit to own but is an amazing figure and is miles ahead of the Hasbro version. Definite must own figure.
