One of the later characters who appears in the Cybertron line from the Planet Speedia (Speed Planet) we have the Decepticon character known as Buzzsaw, from what we see of the cartoon of Cybertron not only is Buzzsaw a Decepticon but he is also a film reporter/camera man.

Basically this is a new update of an old character, originally this figure was Cyclonus from the Armada line but this time he has been given a new lick of paint and a new moulded face and sadly it seems the removal of his mini-con partner and we have a new character In form of Cybertron Buzzsaw. The figure has also been remoulded in areas such as the arms which now have cybertron-key-slots In them which you place the Cyber-key into to activate the missiles to fire. Oddly the hip and leg guns still appear to be here but still appears to not have much of a use while in robot mode.

The robot mode itself is a great figure but is still sadly full of flaws which haven’t been fixed yet even for this update of an old mould. The face is a massive problem for a start because its on a hinge pin so that the head moves up and down but because of this it also means the head cannot turn left or right either, the shoulders are fixed in position so that the arms can move up and down but yet again these cannot move/rotate which limits movement. The legs on the other hand are able to move at the knee joints and the waist area also rotates as well which means there’s lots of move ability In that area of the character at least.

Robot mode looks good but as said before the fact the head and arms seem fixed in certain positions takes a little decency away from the figure as
it would have been easy to have added extra movement points to the character and add something just alittle extra to Buzzsaw rather than just a new head and Cyber-Key panels on the arms.

On the plus side of this figure the paint scheme is fantastic and in an odd way kind of resembles Beast Wars Buzzsaw (The repaint of Transmetal Waspinator) which already makes the character seem as if he has some kind of background (As in a homage to Beast Wars Buzzsaw) rather than just being a TV-Reporter as he seems to come across in the Cybertron cartoon series. The addition of the Cyber-Key ports seems a little pointless
because the missiles don’t actually fire that far in distance but still they add extra bulk to the figure at least.

Vehicle mode looks great but for some unexplained reason the mini-con partners are missing and this isn’t just with Buzzsaw but also with Longrack,Blurr and some other characters reborn into the Cybertron line. It is not explained why the mini-cons have been removed because if anything this takes something extra away from the characters in general. The vehicle mode is basically identical to the original mould of Armada Cyclonus but obviously has a different color scheme from that character and is also missing the mini-con. The back of the helicopter has a switch which you can pull and this action makes the propellers rotate faster and faster. The front piece of the helicopter also flips upwards and this would be were the mini-con partner would attach to but since he isn’t present this function seems totally and completely pointless unless you take the Armada version of this mini-con and repaint it yourself maybe?

The figure comes packaged in the standard Cybertron card packaging and has images o the back of the character In robot/vehicle mode and has the characters bio on the back. The Takara version of this character was actually released as a two-pack set and came with Blurr who was also from the Planet Speedia, the back of that packaging also had info on the two ad also showed a battle image on the back of that box.

A good character but feels like he could have been so much more and the fact the Mini-con partner is missing will just piss off most people and why he is missing just makes no sense at all and is a seriously stupid move. Buzzsaw is a great figure and the mould is a great design but it would have been easy to have given this figure more articulation and more features but instead with Buzzsaw your left feeling slightly cheapened and ripped off by Hasbro and Takara in some odd way. A great character to add to your Cybertron collection but one that if you missed you could probably still live without.
