Hotshot is the
fastest of all the
Autobots and also
has the attitude to
back it up. Fast and
hot headed can be
his un-doing from
time to time because
while Hotshot tries
to keep to his
duties he finds that
his heart is always
in the race and that
he only ever really
feel's alive when
racing and always
that he's out to
prove he is the
fastest Transformer
around.
Robot mode for the
figure is great
because firstly this
figure is meant as
kind of a tribute to
Generation One
character -Hot Rod -
so the first thing
that you do notice
about robot and
vehicle mode is that
in a strange way it
does look like the
original G1
character everyone
knows.
The figure is very
accurate from how he
looks in the cartoon
and all his knee and
elbow sections bend
which give him loads
more play value. The
arms can move at the
shoulders and the
legs can move around
the waist area as
well. The neck area
can also rotate from
left to right but
sadly he cannot look
up or down but then
again only a small
number of
Transformers have
that feature anyway.
Hotshot comes with
his gun that was
also shown in the
cartoon show and his
Force Chip can be
placed into the back
area of the vehicle
mode while in robot
mode to slide out
the wings. The wings
being out for robot
mode make Hotshot
look even more like
the Generation One
character Hot Rod.
There is also a big
Autobot symbol on
the left shoulder
area for Hotshot and
a small Autobot
Symbol on the front
of the vehicle mode.
Vehicle mode is very
stylish and slick
and looks perfectly
designed for racing
as a sports car. The
arms fold in close
together while the
legs attach to each
other and slide
upwards inside the
thigh area and then
the top section
rotates 180 and all
attaches together to
make the vehicle
mode of Hotshot.
The wheels are
standard plastic but
again its very very
rare now if a
Transformer ever has
rubber tires these
days. The
wind-shield is
transparent yellow
and lets you look
inside to see the
dash board and
steering wheel and
seats. The gun for
Hotshot can also
attach to the
top-back area of
vehicle mode as
shown in the cartoon
show when he and
Over-ride teamed up
against the
Decepticons.
Vehicle mode itself
is nice and solid
and all holds
together perfectly
well. The design is
very well created
and looks perfectly
like how it does in
the show and
transforms from both
modes without any
odd bits or pieces
just revealing
themselves or making
the figure look
poorly created such
as Undermine as an
example.
The paint work for
the character is
good but in some
places it feels like
the figure is
unfinished. An
example of this is
in the arms because
in the show Hotshot
has the car door
area on his arms.
The car door area
also shows several
grey blasters (Think
G1 Hot Rod and you
will understand what
i mean with the
exhaust blasters)
which while in the
show are clearly
shown as grey yet
for some reason the
toy just has clear
transparent yellow?
it feels almost as
if this was
un-noticed while on
the
design/production
line because really
this is the only
huge flaw with the
character that could
so obviously have
been corrected.
Hotshot comes
presented
Mint-on-sealed-card
like pretty much all
of the Deluxe
characters do for
the Cybertron line.
He comes shown in
vehicle mode placed
beind a clear
plastic window with
an image on the
front of him in
robot mode. An odd
note about this is
that in America the
image on the front
is a cartoon image
of Hotshot yet while
in most parts of
Europe the image
shown is a toy image
of Hotshot in robot
mode. This seems to
be the case for most
of the Cybertron
line actually which
seems rather odd
because why go threw
the effort of
changing the image
on the front of the
box from a cartoon
image to a picture
of the toy character
when you can see the
toy by simply
looking at the
plastic transparent
window?
The back of the box
shows images of
Hotshot in both
vehicle mode and
robot mode with his
stats and character
details on the back.
However these
details don't
actually say that
much when you
compare them to the
Galaxy Force version
of the toy. Just
seems a little like
Hasbro didn't make
as much effort as
Takara when it came
to the packaging of
the Cybertron/Galaxy
Force toys in
general.
A great figure to
own with hardly any
down-sides or flaws
and going for a
decent price you
can't really argue
with the fact that
Cybertron Hotshot is
an amazing toy to
own. If your a fan
of Galaxy Force or
Cybertron (which
ever you collect)
then you simply can
not let Hotshot pass
you by, a definite
must own character
from the line. |
